SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 22 UPDATE: NURSES VOTE IN FAVOUR OF TENTATIVE CONTRACT
Local unionized nurses at Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health may have their new contract just in time for the upcoming fall flu season.
An Ontario Nurses Association representative tells Quinte News a tentative deal was reached during mediation talks this week and the more than 40 employees are set to vote on the deal this evening.
The Board of Health would need to vote to ratify the deal on October 3 before it goes into effect.
If the sides don’t agree to the new contract, which works have been without since the end of last year, nurses could hit the picket lines on September 25.
