UPDATE @ 6:00 p.m.: The investigation is underway into the cause of a Belleville house fire.
Firefighters from stations one and two responded to the call on Elizabeth Crescent, in the east end, just after 3:00 Monday afternoon.
The fire had been called in by a neighbour who saw smoke coming from the roof and when officers arrived, they too saw the smoke, as well as flames.
The flames were quickly brought under control and the fire prevention office says nobody was injured.
The home was insured and damage is estimated around $75,000.
A cause hasn’t been determined but an investigator with the Electrical Safety Authority has been called in.

Belleville firefighters have knocked down flames at a home in the east end this afternoon.
Crews responded to 51 Elizabeth Crescent, just east of Farley Avenue, around 3:30, where flames and smoke could be seen shooting throug the roof of the home.
Veridian was called to cut power to the home and firefighters had the flames under control just after 4:00 p.m.
No word on a cause or any injuries at this time.
Drivers should avoid the area if possible.
