UPDATE @ 11:00 p.m.: Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan says firefighters will likely be on scene until about 2:00 Tuesday morning dousing hot spots.
He says a total of 38 firefighters responded to the blaze on Monday afternoon and high winds made things difficult for crews, spreading the flames to a nearby field.
A cause has still not been released but investigators are expected back on scene through the day on Tuesday to see what they can find out.
Whelan says there was electricity being run to the barn but it’s too early to tell if that’s what sparked the flames.

UPDATE @ 5:30 p.m.: Flames are out at the scene of a barn fire this afternoon, but traffic may still be delayed in the area, as crews work to douse hot spots.
Quinte News has learned the family who owns the barn had just moved to the area about six weeks ago and some chickens and machinery tools were lost in the blaze.
Road closures have been put in place around the intersection of Foxboro-Stirling Road and Wallbridge-Loyalist Road for the time being and drivers should still avoid the area.
There’s still no word on a cause and no other injuries have been reported.

Firefighters from three Quinte West stations and from Belleville are battling a barn blaze this afternoon.
Flames broke out in a barn, behind a house at the intersection of Foxboro-Stirling Road and Wallbridge-Loyalist Road, just before 4:00 p.m.
Fire Chief John Whelan tells Quinte News the barn was fully involved when firefighters arrived.
He says it’s not clear at this point if there was any equipment or livestock in the barn at the time of the fire, but the structure has collapsed.
There is no word on any injuries either, but drivers are being asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route, as OPP will be on scene shortly to put temporary road closures place.
