It has seen delays, and a new government, however a bill to anchor soccer nets will take a step forward in Queen’s Park Thursday.
Last May, 15-year-old Garrett Mills was playing on a soccer net in a Napanee park, when it fell on him, killing him instantly.
MPP Todd Smith, with the support of the Mills family, tabled a bill, which would make it mandatory in Ontario to anchor soccer nets.
Mills’ father David Mills says it is going to second reading today.
Willowdale MPP Stan Cho re-became emotional as it went through second reading debate.
The bill received support from both sides of the chamber and will now head into committee, before being read a third and final reading and receiving royal assent if passed.
