The Tyendinaga Mohawk Council is addressing complaints from citizens about the number of marijuana dispensaries that have popped up in shops on the territory recently.
The shops seemed to start opening after the Liberal Government announced in April, it would be legalizing cannabis for recreational use next year and the council says none of those dispensaries are registered businesses within the territory.
A Friday press release also says that the council doesn’t endorse any of those unlicensed dispensaries and that operating them is still illegal under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Quinte News has reached out to both the Tyendinaga Mohawk Police and the Mohawk Territory administration for further comment.
