A local retired Orthodontist has been charged with making and possessing child pornography.
In early February, members of the Belleville Police Criminal Investigations Branch began an investigation after it was reported Anthony Garry Solomon was inappropriately video recording clients without their consent or knowledge. The videos reportedly involved both adults and children under the age of 18.
The investigation revealed that this had been ongoing for many years.
On Wednesday July 12, members the Belleville Police Service – Criminal Investigations Unit, Technical Crimes Unit, and members of the Toronto Police Service – Central Field Command – Investigative Support Unit attended an address in Toronto and executed a search warrant.
The 69-year-old Toronto resident is charged with the following offences:
1) Voyeurism – surreptitiously recording images of a person over the age of 18 years contrary to Section 162(1) of the Criminal Code
2) Voyeurism – surreptitiously recording images of a person under the age of 18 years contrary to Section 162(1) of the Criminal Code
3) Possession of Child Pornography contrary to section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code
4) Making child pornography contrary to section 163.1(2) of the Criminal Code
He was released with conditions and is to appear in Belleville court on August 17.
Solomon had operated his business on North Front Street for decades.
The investigation is ongoing and police are in the process of notifying numerous victims.
