A blaze that tore through seven transport trucks causing roughly $1 million in damages in Quinte West Saturday night has been deemed accidental.
Around 11 p.m. fire fighters were called to Cooney Transport on Bellevue Drive where the cabs of the Kenworth transports were on fire.
Monday night, Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen said investigators determined electrical issues caused the fire and concluded it was accidental.
He said investigators have sent a piece of one of the trucks for forensic testing. He added investigators admitted there have been several issues with Kenworth trucks.
Whalen said the truck fires were put out quickly, but that the area around Cooney Transport was enveloped in smoke for some time.
“Thankfully no one was injured in the fire,” Whalen expressed.
