Belleville’s Tim Cronin will take on New Brunswick’s Nathan “Timberwolf” Millier April 4th for the vacant Canadian Light Heavyweight Boxing Championship. The fight will be held at the Royal York Hotel and is being promoted by the Shaw Festival Theatre.
The 33 year old Cronin is ranked 4th in Canada. Millier is 5th.
Cronin began with the Belleville Boxing Club and the late Mal Trenholm when he was 12 years old. He also worked with Jack Ireland. Cronin moved to Toronto 7 years ago when he decided to go pro. Cronin is 7 years older than Millier but says the “Tale of the tape” is in his favour.
Cronin’s pro record is 8-1-1. Millier is 9-0-2.
Cronin could become the second Canadian boxing title holder in this area. Dillon “Big Country” Carman is the Canadian heavyweight champion, a fact not lost on Cronin.
This boxing event, which is a black tie affair, has been held annually at the Royal York since 1986. Celebrity boxers such as “Smokin” Joe Frazier, “Boom Boom” Mancini, George Chuvalo, Leon Spinks and James “Buster” Douglas have atttended in the past.
