It’s a big day for residents on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, with the Chief calling it a “major milestone” for the community.
Chief R. Don Maracle says a special ceremony was held Friday morning, to mark the official activation of phase one of the water treatment plant.
Members of the band council, Northern Affairs Canada, local politicians and engineers were all on hand for the announcement.
The activation means the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte can start connecting some homes to the system along parts of Norway’s Road, Ridge Road, Sadie’s Lane and York Road.
