Two Males Under Arrest, Police Searching for Third Male
On Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 2:30 a.m., police responded to a call on Gracefield Lane near the water in regards to three males involved in a disturbance with a homeowner. The homeowner had confronted the males who were attempting to steal items from residences along the shore using a boat. Police attended and arrested two males who became assaultive during the arrest. A third unknown male ran from the police, was observed entering the water and then he began swimming away from the officers towards a farther point along the shore where officers lost sight of him.
The Belleville Police Service, with the assistance of the Belleville Fire Department and the coordinated efforts of Search and Rescue, has been searching the area for the male but at this time, he has not yet been located.
Several items believed to have been stolen have been located in the area.
The two males in custody: a 29 year old male, address unknown and a 33 year old male from Quinte West are facing charges of Assault and Utter Threats and more charges are pending following further investigation.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered Set on Fire
On Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 1:00 a.m., police took a report of a vehicle stolen from the Keegan Parkway area between 11:00 p.m. on July 12th and 1:00 a.m. on the 13th. Later that morning at 7:15 a.m., police responded to a call to the Mudcat Road and Old Madoc Road area in the location of the old railway bed/trail in regards to a vehicle on fire and still smoldering. The stolen blue 2005 Mazda Tribute had deliberately been set on fire and was abandoned in the area. Belleville Fire Department attended to the fire and Belleville Police Service is still investigating the incident.
Sudden Death Investigation
On July 11, 2016 at 4:27 a.m., police responded to a residence on Lewis Street in regards to a deceased 53 year old female. All sudden deaths are treated as suspicious until proven otherwise. Investigation commenced with the scene being secured and Forensic Identification officers and members of the Criminal Investigations Division attended. The investigation is now complete and at this time, foul play is not suspected.
