Veterans and their families will have the opportunity to speak out on service delivery at a pair of upcoming public hearings.
The Veterans Affairs Committee is holding public hearings in Toronto and Montreal next week as part of a study to determine whether the current benefits and services are working as intended.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis who is the chair of the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs says there is a concentration of veterans in Toronto and Montreal. He says once they hold the hearings and depending on the amount information gathered, they will decide how to move forward and if traveling to other municipalities is required.
The June 13 meeting in Toronto is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Chelsea Hotel, Churchill Ballroom on 33 Gerrard Street West.
The June 14 hearing is in Montreal from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at the Centre Mont-Royal, Salon International on 2200, rue Mansfield.
Members of the public who wish to speak at these sessions must register on-site between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The list of speakers will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis. The Committee Chair will decide how much time each person will be given based on the number of speakers (around two minutes per person). If possible, please bring five (5) printed copies of the statements.
Participants (and observers) attending the meeting must clear security before they can be granted access to the meeting room and provide photo identification.
