Hasting County officials travelled to Sarnia this week to observe a Canada-United States cross-border exercise for first responders.
CAO Jim Pine says it involved transporting a pretend patient, supposedly injured in a tornado, from Sarnia to hospital in Port Huron on the other side of the border, and he was able to watch how it was handled.
PINE EXERCISE
Pine says it was important to observe the cross-border system since eastern Ontario is in the midst of improving cell networks and the public safety broadcast network across municipal borders.
